COMPARISON OF INTRANASAL DEXMEDETOMIDINE V/S MIDAZOLAM AS A PREMEDICATION IN CHIDREN WITH CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE UNDERGOING CARDIAC SURGERY

Background: The intranasal route is a reliable way to administer preanaesthetics and sedatives children. aim of present study was compare the anxiolytic sedative effects dexemedetomidine midazolam as premedication in children with congenital heart disease undergoing cardiac surgery.. Patients Methods: Fifty chidrens 2-12 years age group either sex surgery were randomly allocated into two groups. Group A-(n=25) - received dexmedetomidine premedication.(0.1 µg/kg diluted 2ml NS ) B- (n=25)- premedication. (0.2 mg/kg NS) Heart rate, mean arterial blood pressure oxygen saturation monitored upto30 minute after drug administration. sedation score, anxiety score child separation recorded until taken OR. postoperative agitation also observed. Results Conclusion: Premedication attained significant satisfactory better parental lower levels without any adverse compared surgery.
